Atari has announced that pre-ordering the action horror Alone in the Dark: Illumination, due early this year, will get you access to the private beta. This gives early access to one single-player campaign.
Another additional beta is to be revealed closer to launch, says Atari. This new Alone in the Dark has us face off against hordes of eldritch nightmares, and also supports multiplayer co-op.
”Alone in the Dark has a passionate following of players who have kept up with the series since the original 1992 release,” said Fred Chesnais, CEO of Atari. “By introducing cooperative multiplayer, this new game engages the nostalgic fan-base and introduces a new generation of PC gamers to the franchise. We have a long-term plan for Alone in the Dark and there will be much more to come.”
”With the introduction of a single-player mode with the merciless Hunter, within the first environment, the menacing Coal Mine, we are laying the foundation of Alone in the Dark: Illumination,” added Senior Product Lead, Peter Banks. “Subsequent updates will introduce new, compelling elements building on this first beta period. The multiplayer mode will also enhance the strategic light-based gameplay, complement the diverse character capabilities, and ensure ongoing fun.”
Four unique characters comprise our collection of heroes: The Hunter, the Witch, the Priest and the Engineer. They each have their own distinct weapons, skills and powers to unlock. We can either battle together through co-op or go ‘Alone in the Dark’.
Alone in the Dark: Illumination releases on PC in early 2015, and is available through Steam.
