Defect: Spaceship Destruction Kit is an ambitious game that allows players to meticulously build any spaceship from a humble fighter to a monstrous base the size of the Death Star, and will be hitting Steam Early Access tomorrow, 1 December 2015.
The game allows players to build their ships piece-by-piece and create the starship of their dreams, then take it out into combat as a top-down shooter. Players are given the mission to hunt the traitorous rebels down, and players have to be careful in that even the biggest ship may have a weakness that they can exploit.
According to developer Three Phase Interactive, which is based in Melbourne, Australia, the game will feature hundreds of parts across three stylistic themes referencing sci-fi movies and shows from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. “Players can build the most powerful ships in the galaxy using our 2D ship building system, which we think is pretty easy to use,” stated the studio’s lead designer Drew Morrow.
For gamers who just want to toy around with it before making the purchase, a demo is now available on Steam as well here.
