Developer Longbow Games has announced that the 3.1 update for its grand strategy game Hegemony III: Clash of the Ancients is now available for download.
The update is large enough that the studio is calling it an expansion, rather than a simple content update. It includes updated gameplay mechanics for combat, scouting, rebellion, colonization and diplomacy, as well as buffing the AI. The update also includes an upgrade to the map editor.
The new major features included in the 3.1 expansion are:
- New scout units plus an overhauled ambush and reconnaissance system allows units to sneak past fortifications and launch devastating attacks from behind enemy lines.
- Dozens of new diplomatic events force you to balance allegiances as you decide which neighbours to help and which ones to hinder.
- Assimilate captured cities with new colonization mechanics, skills and upgrades.
- Break through enemy formations with new charging and formation strength mechanics.
- Re-train veteran units to preserve their experience while utilizing the latest tactics and equipment.
Hegemony III: Clash of the Ancients was released back on the 25th August, 2015 and earned a 6.0/10 score in GameWatcher’s review.
