Would you expect the HD re-release of a 17-year old game to the brand-new DLC? Whether you did or didn’t, it’s happening.Age of Empires II HD: Rise of the Rajas is just 5 days away.
It’s as surprising as it gets, but 17 years after its original release, Forgotten Empires and Skybox Labs are helping bring an all-new content package to the classic RTS that saw a new lick of paint a few short years ago.
With the shock announcement less than a week from release, there’s no point finding ways to pass the time. Stay indoors, sit back down and prepare for 6 days of Age of Empires II festivities. There’s the Battle for Angkor tournament between December 17-18 streamed directly to the new ‘Escape’ Twitch feed.
It’s happened before and it’s happening again. China was the last focus, but it’s Southeast Asia this time.
The developers over at Forgotten Empires will be throwing around sneak peeks at the upcoming content each day between now and release, too. With four new civilisations, a new map type and plenty of other things to push out of the door, there’s a lot going on leading to the the December 19 release.
And though timings have yet to be confirmed, there’s going to be a countdown stream on the Forgotten Empires Twitch channel, too, with lots of special guests. And don’t worry; there’s plenty of bug fixes coming too.
