Life is Strange developer Dontnod Entertainment revealed some of the studio’s future plans in an interview with MCV, discussing the upcoming Gothic suspense thriller adventure game Vampyr, and the chances of a second season for Life Is Strange.
In 2015, Life Is Strange earned its share of accolades, including getting notice in the GameWatcher Best Games of 2015 Awards, and the studio isn’t resting on its laurels. “2015 was the most successful year we’ve had so far and we fully intend to build on that,” promised producer Luc Baghadoust.
2017 will see the release of Vampyr, the studio’s dark actopm adventure set in London circa 1918. “Vampyr is led by a different team and they hold their own aspirations and creative vision,” art director Michel Koch revealed. “The strength of the studio is in its creative freedom. We love challenges and working on as action RPG seemed a good choice and in accordance with the publisher’s wishes. But of course, storytelling is at the core of Dontnod’s DNA, and you can expect this for Vampyr, too.”
However, the studio isn’t abandoning the Life is Strange IP just yet, nor 2013’s Inception-style adventure Remember Me.
“We’d love to do a second season of Life is Strange, but time will tell,” teased game co-director Raoul Barbet teased. “And we love the Remember Me universe that we created in Neo-Paris and there are so many ways to create new experiences. But Capcom owns the rights to Remember Me so it’s up to them to allow new projects.”
