It won’t be long before Braid creator Jonathan Blow’s latest creation, The Witness is available for players to puzzle over and explore to their heart’s content. The game went live for pre-order today. The price, however, comes to a slightly alarming $40/ €36.99 / £29.99.
Preorder pages went live on Steam and The Humble Bundle, along with a formal announcement from the official website (currently down), which attempts to explain a little bit of the reasoning behind the price. Blow claims the game contains over 100 hours of content for “a completionist that wants to wring every last drop out of the game.”
It’s not the first time a game like Blow’s has come out to such a price tag. The Talos Principle, another open-world puzzler, came out to the same asking price at launch. The game certainly seems expansive, but gaming forums have expressed concern over the price tag nonetheless, especially when preorders offer nothing but the standard game.
The Witness is slated for launch on January 26, 2016. Are you willing to shell out what Blow is asking for the game at launch? Let us know in the comments below.
