Darksiders II: Deathinitive Edition came out last year, bringing the action-adventure extra visual bells and whistles on modern consoles and PC. The reason why the second game was remastered first remains a mystery, but we’re at last getting the updated version of the original Darksiders this October.
Darksiders puts you in control of War, the first Horseman of the Apocalypse, accused of inciting a new war between the forces of Heaven and Hell. You’ll clear your name by journeying to Earth, adventuring through dungeons, collecting items, and defeating epic boss monsters. It’s a violent take on the Zelda formula, and it’s pretty terrific in its own right.
Wondering how the update is likely to turn out? Check out our Darksiders II: Deathinitive Edition review!
Darksiders II is a slightly lesser but still very good game, but its Deathinitive Edition remaster wasn’t especially impressive on PC. That’s largely due to the fact that the original PC version of the game was already great. Darksiders: Warmastered Edition promises 4k support, doubled texture resolutions, improved rendering, better shadow quality, and post processing effects.
The release is set for October 25. If you haven’t played Darksiders, you probably should. The original game was great and the Warmastered Edition should be a solid way to hop on board. Just don’t ask me to explain why these releases came in reverse order.
