The popular Xbox One fighting game Killer Instinct is now available for Windows 10 users. One of the major features of the game is crossplatform play between PC and console, but the other is an upcoming solo mode called Shadow Lords, which is similar to Soul Calibur 3’s Tales of Souls gameplay type.
The Shadow Lords mode is described as ”part ladder, part arcade mode, part story mode, and part roguelike, all rolled up into one unique experience.” Players are tasked with defeating Gargos, who wants to take over the world, of course. In order to take him on, players will choose a character to be the “main” fighter, while assembling a team of other Killer Instinct characters.
Players earn and craft items in this mode, and playing the main game actually accelerates progress in crafting, awarding the player KI Gold to buy rarer elements. Items and elements are persistent across multiple playthroughts as well.
Killer Instinct was released yesterday along with the Season 3 characters. Gamers can pick up the game for free at the Windows 10 Store here. Players can purchase entire seasons or just pick up fighters individually. One fighter per season is free, however.
