Continuing Ubisoft's long-term investment, Tom Clancy's The Division will receive a fairly sizable title update tomorrow, August 15.
Though apparently not substantial enough to warrant its own name, Update 1.7 looks to bring a new Event system, built-in achievements with fresh perks and, of course, new gear.
The first of two major updates planned for Ubisoft's persistant online multiplayer shooter this year, Update 1.7 introduces 'Global Events - new time-limited missions likely designed to give current and returning players more reason to log in regularly. To spice things up a little further, these missions and incursion events will periodically feature new modifiers to ramp up the risk/reward ratio. For those looking for even more goodies, the new 'Commendations' system rewards players for completing tasks of ranging difficulty, much like the 'Feats' that came before them.

But what kind of rewards are you searching for in Update 1.7? Classified Gear Sets help push the item levels up ever so slightly higher, while new facemasks and arm patches should help players display a little more flair. If time has been cruel to your agent, you'll be free to alter their appearance at the Barbershop. And, of course, where's a modern multiplayer game without a few real-world transactions? Though new Encrypted Caches will offer up random customization items and new emotes to those breaking them open with keys acquired in-game, those with more money than time will be able to crack them open with Premium Credits.
Last on the agenda is a couple of low-key adjustments to the Survival DLC. Going forward, players should be able to drum up higher scores while time/reward ratios have been altered to reflect that of similar in-game activities. Expect Update 1.8 in the coming months. The best part about all this? It's completely free. For those without a copy of The Division already, you can give it a free trial this weekend, too. Neat!
