With Sony kicking off this year's Tokyo Games Show last night, the publishing giant had a lot to say about games like Shadow of the Colossus and Zone of the Enders. But there's only really one game in their repertoire that would ever really mean anything to a PC-focused readership here - Monster Hunter World.
Announcing fresh details, a new trailer, and a worldwide release date, things are heating up for the most anticipated Monster Hunter title of recent memory. Rather than being tied to a specific console, Monster Hunter World is a multi-platform beast. And just because the PC version may be pulling a Destiny 2 and releasing far later, that doesn't mean the info is any less relevant.
For veterans of the franchise, we introduce the Nerurigigantei, Monster Hunter World's flagship beast. This is the creature you'll see take centre stage on the game's main artwork, trailers and early story. It's typical for a sole entity to hog the spotlight for a Monster Hunter release, but get trumped by far more terrifying creatures later in the game. Whether it'll get a localised name or not is unknown at this time, but it's certainly a tricky one to say after a few drinks!

With a worldwide release now set for January 26, it's time for Capcom to start sharing Collectors Edition details to grab those all-important pre-order numbers. There's your standard boxed copy, digital deluxe edition and, for those wanting the full package, a Collectors Edition including a soundtrack, artbook, figurine and a sleek, snazzy box to house it all. If you want something else for your PC release, figure out a way to grab the special edition PlayStation 4 Pro's Dualshock controller.
Again, while console players may be getting this one early in the new year, Sony and Capcom made sure to tell PC players that our version would be coming later in the year. They still haven't clarified that statement, so it's best to assume they still don't really have much idea themselves. At this point, it might actually be worth double-dipping.
