We called it a long time ago, but now it's official: Injustice 2, the sequel to the DC Comics fighting game from Mortal Kombat developers Netherrealm, is coming to PC at long last! A PC beta is due on Steam tomorrow, October 25, but could the final release date of Injustice 2 be actually on November 17 - to tie-in with the Justice League movie? We examine the evidence below.

There is almost no information regarding Injustice 2 on PC except that it's coming, there's a beta tomorrow, and it's being adapted by studio QLOC. The only clue we have regarding release date is that it's out Autumn/Fall 2017. Which basically means before the end of November. We highly doubt it'll be out this week, so we're looking at November.
However, there is a really big DC Comics event next month that would be perfect to tie a videogame release to. The Justice League movie, directed by Zack Snyder (and Joss Whedon), is out November 17. That's an utterly perfect release date, right in the centre of the month, alongside the biggest DC movie release of the year with hype at its highest, and offering an adult alternative to the child-friendly rival comic house game LEGO Marvel Superheroes 2. It would also be the same week as the console launch of the Hellboy DLC, which is quite a big deal as he's the first non-DC comic book character to appear in the game.
So to us, November 17 is looking very likely as a release date for Injustice 2 on PC.
Injustice 2 was released May 11 this year on Xbox One and PS4 and was the sequel to Injustice: Gods Among Us, the alternate-universe DC Comics beat-em-up from the makers of Mortal Kombat. In the original the Joker causes Superman to turn his back on his humanity by killing Lois Lane and destroying Metropolis, and Superman becomes a despot who conquers the planet. Injustice 2 picks up after Batman and his allies have defeated Superman and the evil Justice League, but now they face a new threat from the planet-collecting villain Brainiac. Injustice 2 was a critical, commercial and community hit, and we can confirm that it's fantastic (we've been playing it since May). It's release on PC has been long anticipated so we can't wait.
