Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire is less than a week away, being released on the 8th of May, next Tuesday. Obsidian has announced when players who own the game can pre-load so that everything is ready for play the second launch happens, and we also now know the exact time for that too.
Revealed by Aarik “Moobs” Dorobiala via Twitter, precise launch for Deadfire will take place on the 8th of May at 10:00 AM PDT, which means late afternoon or early evening for Europe, and release will slip over to May 9th local time for Asia. Pre-loading will be available on Steam starting this Friday.
As GoG does not support preloading, this option will not be available to players who own the game on that platform, however release times apply to all platforms. Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire is coming in a little over three years after the previous title in the series, and was once delayed. Like its predecessor, Deadfire was crowdfunded with great success, however this time on Fig instead of Kickstarter.
Backers of Pillars of Eternity 2 have had access to playable alpha and beta builds throughout the development process, and their feedback was crucial in ensuring stability and getting rid of bugs. We previewed Deadfire back in February, and our review of the game is in progress.
