Somewhat niche RPG franchise Heretic Kingdoms is getting its third installment later this year. Developed by the same folks who created the previous two games, but published by Kalypso Media. Shadows: Awakening is an isometric RPG hearkening back to the golden age of the genre.
Shadows: Awakening is slated to launch on PC on the 28th of September, and fans can pre-order the title via Steam starting today. Pre-ordering brings with it a number of perks, such as a lower purchase price, digital goodies and most importantly, access to the pre-release beta version of the game. The beta also went live today, giving players a chance to test the game, get a feel for it and help the developers with final touches and bugfixes with their feedback.
Beyond access to the closed beta, pre-orders will unlock a digital art book, soundtrack and three in-game item sets for Shadows: Awakening once the game is released in the Fall. The game's developers have released a behind-the-scenes video showcasing some of Shadows: Awakening's mechanics and systems to prime you on what to expect from the title.
