There's a Steam page for the new game if you want to preorder. The original Yume Nikki came out in 2004 and was made in RPG Maker, and basically involves exploring the freaky dreams of a young girl called Madotsuki. It's been suggested as an influence on Undertale, which came out much later.
The 3D remake is being handled by Kadokawa and Active Gaming Media (AGM), working "under supervision and full cooperation from the original creator, Kikiyama". It apparently combines the original free-roaming title with influences from "recent indie juggernauts", perhaps meaning Undertale itself.
You can play the original on Steam for free, and you'll probably either love it for its insanity or hate it for its lack of obvious goals. We'll probably have to add it to our list of the Best Free Scary Games on PC then next time we update it...
