At this point in time, you would be hard-pressed to find a person who's into video games that hasn't yet heard of Rocket League. That game truly has it all: a charming, colourful and family-friendly aesthetic; a fascinating and moderately novel gameplay mechanic, a great learning curve that leaves plenty of space for both casuals and professionals alike... bottom line is, if you've never tried out Rocket League, you definitely should.
Having said that, Rocket League is not a free-to-play game, and it's perfectly understandable if this pushes some away or simply makes the game out of reach for the time being.
However, come this Thursday, 5th of July and all the way to Monday, July 9th, everybody will be able to join in on the fun and play Rocket League completely free of charge! This promotion (which has been offered a number of times in the past, too) is going to be featured on both Steam and Xbox One platforms, and as if that alone wasn't enough, for the duration of this period, you'll be able to purchase Rocket League and select DLC at a 50% discount. This is at least in part to celebrate the game's latest summer-themed content update, Salty Shores, offering brand new skins, arenas and the like for you to enjoy.
This not only gives you the opportunity to finally see what's so magical about ramming your oversized toy car into an oversized soccer ball yourself, and should you enjoy the experience, buy the game for permanent access to the cheeky madness.
What's not to like?
Rocket League Free Weekend Event
Start Time: Thursday, July 5 at 10am PDT (1pm EDT, 7pm CEST)
End Time: Monday, July 9 at 10am PDT (1pm EDT, 7pm CEST)
This should give you ample time to try the game out and decide for yourself if it is a worthwhile investment of your time and money. That aside, you could always just have some fun without feeling obligated to spend anything at all.
Have fun!
