Apex Legends has secured a cozy spot for itself within the battle royale genre, being one of the major titles people engage with on a regular basis. Consistent content drops play a large role in maintaining player interest, and, there’s a good chance that quite a few of you are wondering when the Season 9 release date might come around.
Season 8 was off to a very explosive start and will likely stick around for a while longer. Season 9, named Legacy, brings some thunder of its own when its release date comes around, introducing a new character with a penchant for flying, the new Arenas mode, and more.
Apex Legends Season 9 Release Date
Season 8’s Battle Pass conveniently had an end date since it began, which we used as an indicator in predicting Apex Legends’ Season 9’s start date. Players have until May 3 to unlock the items on the current Battle Pass.
Since new seasons tend to begin on Tuesdays, we initially pinned May 4 as the Apex Legends Season 9 release date. EA and Respawn later confirmed it as such.
Apex Legends Season 9 New Character: Valkyrie
Valkyire was revealed as the newest addition to the battle royale’s character roster, coming in Season 9 - Legacy. The season’s name is a reference to her story, which you can check out in the trailer embedded at the bottom. Although we don’t know much about her abilities, it’s clear that she has a penchant for flying and a potential preference for rockets. She’s also seen wielding a compound bow, which may be this season’s new weapon.
Apex Legends Season 9 Arenas
Information about Arenas previously only came from leakers but the mode is seemingly making its way into Apex Legends this season. It’s supposed to “go beyond battle royale,” leaks suggesting that they’ll focus on an experience that’s closer to team deathmatch and which takes place on smaller chunks of existing maps. A reveal is slated for April 26, which is likely when we’ll learn exactly what shape Arenas will take.
Apex Legends is free-to-play and available now on PC, Xbox One, PS4, and Nintendo Switch.
