Publisher and developer Glyph Worlds today unveiled Barkhan as its upcoming real-time strategy game, giving us a better look at the title’s units and gameplay in its announcement trailer. A playable demo has also been confirmed to go live during Steam Next Fest.
Inspired by classic strategy games such as Dune II: The Building of a Dynasty and Dune 2000, Barkhan puts players in the center of an unending conflict between three clans. Their goal? Seizing control of the rare minerals spread across a distant desert planet.
Much like its setting is reminiscent of the titles that inspired it, Barkhan’s gameplay should be instantly familiar to anyone who’s dabbled in real-time strategy games before.
You get to build and expand your base, train units for your armies, take the fight to your enemies, and hopefully wipe them out.
The game’s three factions each have their own strengths and weaknesses, catering to different playstyles. The clan of Power relies on a straightforward approach involving heavy-armored vehicles.
The clan of Will is all about speed and precision, while the clan of Trickery makes use of high-tech solutions and stealth technology to further its goals.
Here’s how the developer describes Barkhan’s key features:
- Relive a classic RTS experience
- Train and deploy massive armies
- Dynamic combat
- Three distinctive clans with unique perks and abilities
- Full-fledged story mode
- Play solo or with friends
Barkhan is headed to PC on February 9, 2023, according to its Steam page. Anyone interested will be able to try out a demo of the game during Steam Next Fest, which lasts between June 13 and June 20.
