Publisher Nacon and developer Cyanide Studio today announced, during the Warhammer Skulls Showcase, that Blood Bowl 3’s full version has been delayed until 2022. The title will, instead, launch in Early Access later in September, but lucky players can try it starting today, as its closed beta is now live.
The Blood Bowl 3 closed beta is available on Steam and showcases the two brand new Black Orcs and Imperial Nobility teams, alongside the Elven Union. Each of these three potential picks focuses on a different playstyle, employing different strategies to succeed.
During the closed beta, players can create their own teams, explore some of the new customization options, and face off against the AI or other players, both locally and through online matchmaking.
Blood Bowl 3 introduces the passing ability, from the boardgame’s latest edition, as well as that of jumping over prone players. A new timer format that features a bonus time pool, dice display, clearer skill icons, and a more streamlined way to plan complex moves, also counts among its features.
To gain access to the closed beta, you’ll have to register on the official Blood Bowl website and fill out a small questionnaire. Lucky players will receive their Steam key via email.
Blood Bowl 3’s full release is now slated for February 2022, when it arrives on PC, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, and Nintendo Switch.
