Call of Duty: Vanguard is one of the most anticipated titles of the year and one first-person shooter that has fans of the genre wondering about its Steam release date.
Call of Duty: Vanguard is set to deliver an original post-World War II single-player campaign, a plethora of multiplayer modes and maps, but also sees the return of the series’ zombies mode. On top of that, it will also feature Warzone integration. As any CoD fan will tell you, it’s a big deal, making its Steam release date the only missing piece of the puzzle for those players who remain loyal to Valve’s storefront.
Unfortunately, Call of Duty: Vanguard does not have a Steam release date and it seems unlikely that we’ll hear about one any time soon, unless publisher Activision changes how it’s handled the series over the past couple of years.
The last entry in the series to arrive on Steam was 2017’s Call of Duty: WWII, after which future games became Battle.net exclusives on PC. Battle.net was originally meant as a launcher for Blizzard games but, over the years, has evolved into Activision’s own storefront/launcher hybrid.
While it still doesn’t feature third-party titles, Battle.net has been the sole way to get your hands on CoD games for the past couple of years and Call of Duty: Vanguard doesn’t seem to be the title that heralds change, at least at launch.
Whether or not we’ll hear about a Call of Duty: Vanguard Steam release date further down the line remains unclear at the moment. Publishers do sometimes change strategies, as we’ve seen with Electronic Arts’ recent return to Steam, but knowing how successful CoD continues to be as a series, there may not be all that much incentive for it to reach outside of the Battle.net launcher.
At any rate, should we hear more about a Call of Duty: Vanguard Steam release date, we’ll let you know by updating this article.
