Content Warning has already built up a substantial player base of over 200,000 concurrent players on Steam. If playing in a group has been limited due to the four-player cap, you’ll be pleased to know there’s a mod available that significantly expands this limit.
If you’re quick enough you can grab Content Warning for free on Steam, but it will only be available for free until 5pm BST, after this, it will be priced at $7.99.
How many people can play Content Warning
If your gaming group has more than four members, you might find the typical player limit frustrating in Content Warning, especially since most games don’t support split-screen play so why should it be limited to four players?
Fortunately, the modding community has quickly responded by providing a method to raise Content Warning’s maximum player count to over 128. While reaching this cap may not be necessary, and its stability at such high numbers is probably going to suffer, expanding your game to accommodate 8 or 12 players is an ideal way to play with friends and family.
The Modder 753.network on X, formerly Twitter, has released a mod on Github that once downloaded and unzipped into your game’s directory, should allow you to invite more players to your online game sessions.
Landfall Publishing has issued a recent patch for Content Warning that addressed the infinite hosting problem, potentially affecting the compatibility of this mod. We’re currently conducting our own tests and reaching out to the mod’s creator for comments to verify if the modification remains functional. We will keep you posted.
Sonodima has put together a Better Lobby Mod that makes the lobby system better, so people can join a game even if its already started. If you drop out due to a connection, we assume you could rejoin too. You can download this useful mod here.
Content Warning is currently in early access on Steam, with the possibility of a console version if certain technical hurdles can be overcome.
