Content Warning is looking to be yet another unexpected hit for 2024 on Steam, attracting many players to its co-op survival horror viral sim where players film spooky videos with friends to try and go viral.
Are there any plans to release it on PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X?
Landfall, in keeping with its tradition of April Fools surprises, launched Content Warning on April 1st as a “tribute to Landfall’s history of April Fools’ Day pranks.” For those quick enough, it’s available as a free download on Steam until 5pm BST, honoring its first two days of release at no cost. Following this period, the game will be priced at $7.99.
Will Content Warning be released for PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X/S?
Reaching a peak concurrent player count of 86,385 players in 24 hours, many players could be wondering if its going to be released or developed for the PS5 or Xbox Series X/S.
Landfall Publishing is looking into console versions, although it doesn’t know if it’s going to be possible due to technical reasons. We reached out to them and received this response.
“We don’t know yet! Currently, some technical bits would make the console versions difficult but we will look into it.”
The huge influx of players has taken the developers by surprise, but it promises to continue updating the game for as long as it makes sense.
“We’re not games as a service type company, we’re a small team that likes making many different things BUT we’re very likely to update CW for a while seeing the response.”
Content Warning was crafted by a tight-knit team of just five individuals from February to April 2024, with the bulk of its development occurring over a month-long internal game jam in Seoul, South Korea.
The game’s goal is to team up with friends or family in a four-player cooperative horror survival adventure, venturing into the old world. There, you’ll encounter frightful physics-animated monsters, cursed relics, and unknown artifacts.
Players can personalise their characters with an ASCII face customiser, purchase gear, and employ a diving bell to explore the old world. Capture chilling footage of your teammates’ deaths to achieve viral fame and earn money for better equipment.
You can grab Content Warning on Steam for free if you add it to your library within the next few hours.
We will keep you posted if there are any changes in the console versions of Content Warning.
