Creative Assembly has released a new Gameplay Trailer for its chaotic, zero-G heist action game, Hyenas. Gamers attending Gamescom later this month will have the opportunity to experience the game first-hand.
However, for those unable to attend, the developers are offering a chance to play through a closed beta, which will run from August 31 to September 11.
Hyenas Closed Beta Test
Players interested in joining the Hyenas closed beta test can apply by visiting the Steam page. It’s likely that SEGA will grant access to most players who request it, allowing them to thoroughly test the servers before the game’s official launch later this year.
Throughout the closed beta period, players will have the opportunity to test eight Hyenas specialist classes. These include Mozie – the original Hyena – and the rock-and-roll roadie Digits, who will join the ranks alongside ballerina Prima, astronaut Commander Wright, swift cosplayer Hero-Ki, sharpshooter Sniper El Silbón, gaming enthusiast Doc Hotfix, and defense expert drag queen Galaxia.
If you’re unfamiliar with Hyenas, you may be curious about the mechanics of this chaotic-looking heist game. Hyenas is a hero-based multiplayer extraction shooter, where up to five teams of three players each race against one another to secure the most loot.
These treasures aren’t just ordinary items; they include valuable pop culture memorabilia, like the classic Sonic Mega Drive cart you may have spotted in the gameplay trailer. Players must extract these items from Plunderships, which are defended by NPC security teams known as MURFS.

Creative Assembly has not yet announced a specific release date for Hyenas, but the game is expected to launch sometime this year. It will be available on multiple platforms including PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
