How do you found a Witch Coven in Crusader Kings 3? What requirements do you need to meet in order to enact the decision?
Crusader Kings 3 lets you shape your ruler and dynasty as you see fit, one of its more special options letting you found a Witch Coven.
Even in the absence of supernatural elements, this can be fun for roleplaying reasons and, on top of becoming sinful in the eyes of established faiths, can also offer its own bonuses that all characters in your CK3 Witch Coven benefit from.
Crusader Kings 3 Witch Coven Guide
You can found a Witch Coven in Crusader Kings III from your Decisions tab found on the right side of the screen but you’ll need to fulfill four requirements before doing so. They are as follows:
CK3 Found Witch Coven Requirements
- Character has the position of House Head
- Character has either the Witch trait or secret
- Player Heir has the Witch trait or secret known by you
- At least 60% of House members, but no less than 4 for smaller Houses, have the Witch trait or secret known by you
Founding a Witch Coven in CKIII grants you the Witch Coven permanent House modifier which has four very beneficial effects for members of your house:
- Fertility: +10%
- Health: Medium Boost
- Hostile Scheme Power: +10.0
- Hostile Scheme Resistance: +10.0
On top of that, all children educated by characters with the Witch trait are guaranteed to get it, while schemes to convert others to witchcraft will be easier to pull off.
In our experience, gaining the Witch trait seems to be tied to an event that occurs randomly for characters who follow the Learning Lifestyle.
Once you get the Witch trait on your character, you’ll be able to convert others to witchcraft using a Scheme which, in turn, gets you closer to founding a Witch Covenant.
It’s worth keeping in mind that the bigger your house gets, the more difficult it is to reach the 60% threshold of members that are witches.
Should your ruler die, the heir will also have to begin uncovering every Witch secret in their house that they’re unaware of.
Becoming a Witch and living as one is also considerably easier in places whose faith has the accepted witchcraft doctrine.
Although it’s not the easiest Decision to enact, founding a Witch Coven is something every player should try out during their time with CKIII, as it adds a bit more flavor to any playthrough.
