“I will explain this later, GLGGreenLightGang this s*** bigger than POWER trust me. BOOM” writes Jackson on an Instagram post on March 1st. With the post was an image of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City’s logo. In the short time, the post was live, it already surpassed 108,000 likes and thousands of comments wondering if 50 Cent is going to be in the next GTA.
This might seem confusing if you aren’t aware of Curtis Jackson’s work. Green Light Gang was a music festival 50 Cent produced last year that took place on the Mediterranean island of Malta that was also a world tour. The phrase has also been used to describe his posse and even his fans.
50 Cent hinting at GTA 6 involvement?
But what does “bigger than POWER” mean? For the uninitiated, Power is a television series produced by Jackson about a drug lord’s attempt to start a legitimate business in a nightclub and was one of STARZ’s highest rated shows. So beloved in fact that it ran for six seasons. So, for 50 Cent himself to say it’ll be a bigger deal than that is quite a shock.
50 Cent is also no stranger to the games industry. Two games were made starring him to mixed critical reception: Bulletproof and Blood on the Sand. Blood on the Sand in particular was recently made backward compatible for the Xbox One and Series X/S… if you can find a copy for a reasonable price. While it was made compatible, it was not released digitally like other titles, leaving the fun to the lucky few who still have a disc for the game lying around.
With a post as cryptic as this one, it’s easy to draw many possible conclusions. Maybe Jackson is announcing he is connected to the future GTA 6, possibly breaking a non-disclosure agreement. Since Power was a show, maybe he is connected to a possible Grand Theft Auto series? Or maybe it’s unrelated entirely, using the aesthetics of GTA purely to advertise the Green Light Gang. Hell, he could even just say he’s starting a GTA Online Crew. Obviously, we won’t know for sure. We’ll have to wait and see if this is an honest announcement regarding the future of Grand Theft Auto or just a spot of trolling.
