Cyberpunk 2077’s now-notorious launch state cast shade on what was supposed to be one of 2020 and, perhaps the decade’s, biggest titles. Developer CD Projekt Red deployed multiple hotfixes soon after launch but its work is far from done, which is why a freshly released update roadmap sheds some light on the Patch 1.1 release date as well as DLC plans.
The developer will prioritize “working on the most important fixes and updates” to bring the game in a state in which players can properly enjoy it across all systems. The promised free DLC is still part of the Cyberpunk 2077 post-launch plans but will arrive at a later date than initially expected.
“We are focused on fixing the bugs and crashes players are experiencing across every platform. You can expect more in the way of patches — both small and large — to be released regularly. The first update will drop in the next 10 days, and it will be followed by a larger, more significant update, in the weeks after,” reads a post on Cyberpunk 2077’s official website.
“Our plans for supporting Cyberpunk 2077 in the long-term are unchanged, and we will continue to introduce updates and patches to give all players across all consoles and PCs a better experience with the game.”
More details about the RPG’s post-launch DLC will be shared “in the coming months” but knowing that Patch 1.1’s release date is relatively close will be a source of relief for those players who still have a hard time getting over the game’s technical problems. While it likely won’t fix all of them, it’s a start.
According to the update roadmap, Cyberpunk 2077 will receive other updates and improvements throughout 2021. This likely means that we can expect a mixture of hotfixes and patches going forward. CD Projekt Red also mentions how work on these vital patches is proceeding “without any obligatory overtime,” calling avoiding crunch on all its future projects “one of our top priorities.”
