Dead By Daylight is such an impressive game. Now 23 chapters in and more than a few spooky baddies, it only continues to grow. With so many fans expecting a big crossover with horror royalty, Dead By Daylight are doing something brave by going in an entirely new and original direction. Here’s what we know about Roots of Dread, the next chapter so far.
Dead By Daylight Chapter 24, Roots of Dread, is due to finally launch on June 7th, mere weeks from now. Players will find a new map called The Garden Of Joy alongside the new release, a quaint family home with a sinister tone. The entire map is situated around the home, having a forested area and a large garden. This will give you space to hide away from The Dredge, chapter 24’s brand new creature.

A manifestation of the town’s collective evil, it’s a twisting maniacal mess of limbs incarnate. Citing a “monster under the bed” style, it is designed to hide and catch survivors, only to disappear and go on the hunt again. It comes with a unique power, capable of teleporting between to catch survivors. If you felt a little too safe playing Dead By Daylight, this is the monster for you.
Luckily, you now have a new survivor to help you out. Haddie Kaur is an Indian born woman, living in Quebec, raised by close family friends after a car accident killed both of her biological parents. If you have paid close attention up until now, you may recognise her from the archives and there’s a good reason for this. She has touched the paranormal and lived to tell the tale. Intelligent and courageous, she is prepared to take on the killers.
This is an entirely original setting with an original killer - a brave step for the series. If it performs well, it seems likely we will see even more in the future.
