Diablo 4 boasts a variety of stats you have to take into account when forging your character builds, and Lucky Hit Chance could prove to be one of the more confusing items you’ll encounter.
But, as much as its name is different this time around, Diablo 4’s Lucky Hit Chance is something you’re likely already familiar with if you’ve played hack and slash RPGs in the past. Regardless if you need a refresher or are new to the genre, read on below where we cover what it does.
Diablo 4 Lucky Hit Chance
Diablo IV’s Lucky Hit Chance stat behaves in a manner similar to what other similar action-RPGs call proc chance. In practice, it reflects the likelihood of certain effects triggering under certain circumstances.
As you venture across the world of Sanctuary, you’ll encounter items and legendary aspects or unlock skills that can have various Lucky Hit Effects.
Their tooltips usually describe both how the effect works, the conditions to trigger it, and its base chance to occur.
In the case of the Necromancer’s Hewed Flesh passive, it has a base 4% chance (at launch) to create a corpse when you damage an enemy, the chance being doubled against bosses.
The Lucky Hit Chance of relevant skills applies to this base chance mentioned in an effect’s tooltip, where possible.
Diablo IV’s Lucky Hit Chance Bonus stat can be checked by opening your character screen, then navigating to the Materials & Stats tab, and scrolling down to the Utility section.
If you’re building towards it, you’ll get a further increase in the chance of Lucky Hit Effects triggering when their requirements are met. The probabilities for different effects to trigger roll independently.
It’s worth keeping in mind that having lots of Lucky Chance Bonus seems to be pointless, unless your build benefits from Lucky Effects from skills, items, or Legendary Aspects.
To track the base Lucky Hit Chance percentages of skills, you’ll need to check the box for Advanced Tooltip Information that’s found in the Gameplay tab of the options menu.
That is what you need to know about Diablo 4’s Lucky Hit stat and what it does. For more on the action RPG, here is what we know about error code 34203 and when season 1 might kick off.
