First things first, Disney Dreamlight Valley will be free-to-play once it heads out of early access. The whimsical life-sim adventure game is set to be enjoyed at no cost to players and the core gameplay will be available for all. That is, once it heads out of early access. A big topic of conversation for those wanting to learn more about Disney Dreamlight Valley right now is what is the in-game currency, Moonstones? And what does it buy you?
There are currently two ways to acquire Moonstones and we expect once the game heads out of early access, there will be more. For now, we’ll dive into everything there is to know about Moonstones in our guide below from what they are, how you can get them, and what options you have for buying the game right now.
What is a Moonstone?
Moonstone is Disney Dreamlight Valley’s in-game currency. They can be used to purchase cosmetic items in the in-game store. Developer Gameloft has confirmed though that “while moonstone usage in-game will help to unlock extra cosmetic items throughout their journey in Dreamlight Valley, purchasing more moonstones (in-game currency) with real money is not required to enjoy the base game.”
Moonstones can also be used to accelerate your game progress on the Star Path or unlock the premium track of the Star Path. This gameplay mechanism resembles that of the Battle Pass in games like Fortnite where as you level up, you unlock more goodies to be enjoyed in-game as you complete various tasks and missions.
How can you get Moonstones?
Whilst Moonstones can seemingly be found randomly during gameplay, they are very few and far between. So far, we’ve only managed to find them in random chests dotted around the map and with a lot of searching, we’ve only acquired 30 Moonstones.
The best way to currently acquire Moonstones is to purchase one of the three Founder’s Packs on offer when purchasing the game in early access.
- The Standard Founder’s Pack will grant you 8,000 Moonstones
- The Deluxe Edition will grant you 14,500 Moonstones
- The Ultimate Edition will grant you 20,000 Moonstones
But, they come at a price. For the Standard Edition, it’ll set you back £24.99/$29.99, Deluxe is £41.74/$49.99, and Ultimate is £58.49/$69.99.
You’ll also receive a bunch of other founder exclusive goodies when purchasing the game, but in terms of Moonstones, that’s what you’ll receive.
That’s everything we know about Moonstones for now. We’ll be sure to update once the game heads out of early access and more options for purchasing Moonstones become available.
