Dying Light 2’s Sunken City was a big part of its pre-launch marketing, highlighting how player choice can open up a whole new section of Villedor. Unlocking a new chunk of terrain to parkour across as well as new rewards to collect is certainly enticing, but this particular choice is rather easy to miss.
Unlocking Dying Light 2’s Sunken City becomes even trickier due to the game’s lack of a manual save system, which means that picking the wrong option during a critical dialog can block you from running across this part of Villedor. Spoilers for the game’s main story follow below.
Dying Light 2 Sunken City Guide
To make sure you get to unlock the Sunken City, you’ll need to play through the vast majority of the main story and get past the point of no return. During Dying Light 2’s The Breakthrough mission, you’ll inevitably encounter The Colonel.
Speaking with him, you’ll have the choice of trusting what he says or siding with a different character which, from what we know, can be Jack Matt or Lawan.
In order to parkour your way through the Sunken City, you’ll need to side against The Colonel, as this is the only way to drain the water from that portion of Villedor.
Doing so lets you potentially loot its many airdrops quicker, although you will have to deal with a new type of infected that tends to explode if you let them get close to you.
The airdrops in the Sunken City can give you some fairly high-rank gear and, thankfully, can be looted even without draining the water if you have enough stamina to swim and lockpick them.
That’s what you need to know about unlocking Dying Light 2’s Sunken City. For more help with the game, check out our guides on the Moonshine safe code and crossbow.
