Shroud Cores are an essential crafting material in Enshrouded. They are key to expanding your base area, as they are part of what you need to upgrade your Flame Altars. Additionally, Shroud Cores are instrumental in constructing enhanced storage solutions like the Magic Chest.
In the Enshrouded biomes, specific enemies, such as the formidable Wraiths often found guarding Cade Hawthorn The Carpenter’s Ancient Vault and lurking in shroud biomes, will drop Shroud Cores. Additionally, these cores can be crafted by interacting with Balthazar The Alchemist.
How to find Shroud Cores in Enshrouded
We’ve discovered that the simplest method to obtain Shroud Cores involves accumulating sufficient Shroud Spores and Shroud Liquid for crafting at the Alchemist, provided you have already rescued Balthazar from his Ancient Vault.
Shroud Liquid is readily available in the Enshrouded biome and is easily identifiable. It resembles Closed Cup White Mushrooms and can be plucked from the ground, being quite common. Acquiring a substantial quantity of Shroud Spores requires some combat, though most of the adversaries involved aren’t challenging. In the Enshrouded, the majority of enemies will drop Shroud Spores, except Critters.
Here’s a breakdown of what you will need to craft Shroud Cores:
- 10x Shroud Liquid
- 10x Shroud Spores
The second method tends to be quicker, as long as you stay alive, though it may get challenging when dealing with numerous Wraiths. Building a Flame Altar near a group of Wraiths allows for ongoing farming of Shroud Cores, but be prepared for multiple combat encounters.
Make sure to arm yourself with the Magical Staff and carry enough Fireballs for a fairer fight. Once you’ve defeated all the Wraiths, quitting and reloading the game will usually respawn most of them in their original locations. We tend to find them at the Root of Rot or Shroud Roots, and of course The Carpenter’s Ancient Vault.
After collecting ten Shroud Cores, you can upgrade your Flame Altars to the next level. To alleviate storage issues, consider acquiring a Small Magic Chest.
This useful item lets you use any craftable item directly from the chest while in the base, eliminating the need to repeatedly pick up items. It significantly streamlines all the busy work and requires only one Shroud Core and a standard small chest to craft.
If we find any better methods to gather a good group of Shroud Cores, we will update this article.
