The Elder Scrolls Online has been seeing increased numbers since so many people have been confined to their homes lately, but with this surge also comes problems. One of which is An Unexpected Internal Error. Sometimes this can be resolved by a simple restart so try that if you haven’t already.
If the error has popped up during scheduled maintenance there’s nothing you can do, but is most commonly seen due to excessive traffic on their server. You can test this assumption by logging out and switching between megaservers by clicking SERVER under the PLAY button and changing your option.
You can also check the server status over at ZeniMax’s help portal. If the server is online and non of these options have helped, the final step would be repairing your game files.
ESO An Unexpected Internal Error Has Occurred
- Go to your "ProgramData" folder located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Zenimax Online\Launcher\ and rename it to "ProgramDataBackup"
- Open your game launcher and under Game Options, click on Repair
