Publisher and developer Rebellion today announced that it has delayed the release of Evil Genius 2: World Domination until 2021, citing the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic as the reason behind the decision.
Originally set to release at some point in 2020, Evil Genius 2: World Domination now has a new release window – the first half of 2021.
“We had originally planned for Evil Genius 2 to launch this year. However, the impact of COVID-19, transitioning from the studio to our homes and adapting to new ways of working all contributed to this difficult decision.” reads the announcement.
Evil Genius 2 Delayed 2021
“We want to deliver a sequel that will do justice to the franchise and be loved and played by the Evil Genius community for years to come, just like the original. And while we know many of you will be disappointed to wait a little longer, launching next year affords us the time to do precisely that.”
More details on the new Evil Genius 2: World Domination closed beta will arrive “over the coming months”.
Evil Genius 2 tasks you with taking control of one of four villains as they work their way towards world domination.
You’ll build your very own island lair, recruit minions and charismatic henchmen, but also beat back and outsmart the Forces of Justice seeking to thwart your plans.
