No matter how expendable they ultimately are, your career as a dastardly mastermind in Evil Genius 2 won’t go far without enough underlings. You need them to build your lair, defend it, and operate the equipment within, but there’s also a max minions cap that you need to keep in mind while expanding.
You likely won’t hit Evil Genius 2’s max minions number in the first half of the game, unless you make it an objective. There does, however, come a point when recruiting them will no longer be possible without first removing some of their peers, directly or indirectly.
For the most part, minions enter your service as regular Workers, recruited automatically at certain time intervals or instantly if you manually press the Hire button in the Minion Training screen.
Workers mine, build new rooms and items around your lair but also use training stations to become specialized minion types like Guards or Socialites as soon as you unlock them.
The Evil Genius 2 max minions number is 300 and takes into account all types of minions in your lair. How many of them you can recruit is largely dictated by the number of lockers available in your Barracks. Building more will, however, not let you go over the cap.
That being said, you’ll want to make sure that your lair also has enough beds and proper rooms where they can feed themselves and take breaks if you plan on keeping your underlings around for long.
When you’ve reached the cap, your Brainwashers will no longer work properly until you execute someone, send them off on a Scheme, or they fall in battle while defending your lair.
That’s Evil Genius 2’s max minion number covered. For more help with the game, also read our guides on unlocking tier 3 research and building stairs.
