FFXIV’s patch 6.4 signals that we are likely approaching the final stages of the Endwalker expansion’s post-launch content cycle. Placing new bricks on top of the foundation built up in patch 6.3, its release date should give us new activities to dive into and take another step to prepare us for the MMO’s future.
Final Fantasy 14’s patch 6.4 wasn’t extensively detailed until the end of March 2023, when Square Enix confirmed a whole slate of details about its content and release date.
FFXIV Patch 6.4 Release Date
Similar patches from past expansions launched around four months after the x.3 update went live. We initially estimated that FFXIV patch 6.4’s release date would to occur at some point in May 2023.
Its developer has now confirmed that the update, named The Dark Throne, will go live on May 23. You can check out the preliminary patch notes to get a better sense of its upcoming changes and additions.

As expected, FF14’s patch 6.4 will introduce new main scenario quests while continuing Tataru’s Grand Endeavor. More Hildibrand goodness is then scheduled for patch 6.45.
A new dungeon called The Aetherfront is also on the way, alongside The Voidcast Dais, a new Trial that also has an Extreme version.
A new Unreal Trial called Containment Bay Z1T9 is also slated to drop alongside FFXIV’s patch 6.4, as is a new raid in the Pandæmonium series.
Pandæmonium: Anabaseios launches alongside the patch, its Savage version challenging players even more one week later.
Duty system support extends to certain Stormblood expansion main scenario dungeons, while PvP enthusiasts have both Series Four and Season Seven of Crystalline Conflict to look forward to.
Updates to Ocean Fishing and Island Sanctuary are also planned in Final Fantasy XIV’s patch 6.4, the latter including the ability to place furnishings near structures.
