Not only has For Honor’s roster of characters grown continuously since its release, it also introduced a variety of fighting styles and customization options. From sturdy, bulky warriors, to agile fighters, Ubisoft’s brawler takes inspiration for its heroes from several cultures, featuring both male and female characters.

Out of the 24 heroes available at the moment in For Honor, five only have female versions, eight are locked to male, while the remaining eleven let players choose whether they want to play as male or female.
Peacekeeper
<p>
The Peacekeeper is an Assassin hero belonging to the Knights faction. She relies on speed, wearing light leather armor with some mail pieces. In combat, she is an adept of dual wielding a sword and a dagger, covering both offense and defense. The Peacekeeper is a female-only character in For Honor.
Nobushi
<p>
The Nobushi is a Hybrid hero belonging to the Samurai faction. She excels at zone control, using her naginata, a long weapon with a wooden shaft and curved blade. In terms of armor, she favors leather and cloth, allowing for fluid movement. The elegant Nobushi is a female-only character in For Honor.
Valkyrie

The Valkyrie is a Hybrid hero belonging to the Vikings faction. Taking to the battlefield, she’s a versatile fighter who favors simplicity. A straight spear and small, round shield are her weapons, while light leather armor gives her the mobility she needs to keep enemies off-balance. You’ll know her by her helmet adorned with ram horns. Shaman

The Shaman is an Assassin hero belonging to the Vikings faction. A life of isolation has led her to tap into her savage side. In combat, she dual wields a hatchet and dagger, allowing for fast attacks and stabs that make her enemies bleed. In terms of armor, she prefers using as little as possible, relying solely on leather. The Shaman is a female-only character in For Honor.
Nuxia

The Nuxia is an Assassin hero belonging to the Wu Lin faction. The secret bodyguard of a Wu Lin Governor, trained to hunt assassins, she’s an adept of forcing her opponents into one-on-one duels. Her hook swords are the definition of versatility, having bladed guards and hooks at the tip of their standard blades. Armor-wise, she wears a combination of metal and cloth pieces. The Nuxia is a female-only character in For Honor.
Warden

The Warden is a Vanguard hero part of the Knights faction. Wielding an impressive two-handed sword, Vanguards are straightforward yet nonetheless powerful heroes. Equipped with a combination of plate, chainmail and leather armor, they bring a hefty amount of protection to the fight. Wardens can be either male or female in For Honor.
Conqueror

The Conqueror is a Heavy hero part of the Knights faction. Ex-prisoners turned elite soldiers, Conquerors have strong defensive capabilities and unblockable shield-based attacks. When it comes to bringing the hurt, they use their spiked footman’s flail. Adepts of wearing plate armor, Conquerors can be either male or female in For Honor.
Gladiator

The Gladiator is an Assassin hero belonging to the Knights faction. Veterans of countless arena battles, they bring their savagery to the fold by wielding a trident and buckler. They forego protection by having just their head and shoulders covered in armor, relying on their skill to impale and bleed opponents dry. The Gladiator can be either male or female in For Honor.
Black Prior

The Black Prior is a Heavy hero part of the Knights faction. Powerful defense specialists, they wield a one-handed sword and kite shield, which they use both to block attacks coming from all sides and retaliate. Their armor includes chainmail, leather, and plate, the latter protecting their arms and legs. The Black Prior can be either male or female in For Honor.
Kensei

The Kensei is a Heavy hero part of the Samurai faction. Balanced warriors, they compensate for their slower speed through a longer melee range. Their weapon is the Nodachi, a longer blade than the Katana, which gives them unblockable high heavy attacks. They wear cloth with a lacquered wooden cuirass over it, as well as their recognizable Mempo masks. The Kensei can be either male or female in For Honor.
Orochi

The Orochi is an Assassin hero part of the Samurai faction. Agile fighters wielding the iconic katana, their extremely fast light attacks are excellent tools for harassment. In terms of armor, they wear a combination of lacquered wood, leather, and cloth. The Orochi can be either male or female in For Honor.
Shinobi
<p>
The Shinobi is an Assassin hero part of the Samurai faction. Extremely mobile masters of repositioning, these warriors use acrobatic moves such as backflips and front rolls to find openings in their opponent’s defense. They wield the Kusarigama, sickles with chains attached to them, which add more tricks to their arsenal, allowing them to attack at very long ranges. The leather-clad Shinobi can be either male or female in For Honor.
Hitokori
<p>
The Hitokori is a Heavy hero belonging to the Samurai faction. Former executioners of the Samurai, their fighting style revolves around heavy hits. Their weapon is the large, double-headed masakari axe which, just like during their time as executioners, is still used to deliver death blows. Leather, cloth and lacquered steel make up their armor. The Hitokori can be either male or female in For Honor.
Raider
<p>
The Raider is a Vanguard hero belonging to the Vikings faction. Massive, leather-clad brutes, Raiders spare no thought before taking to the frontlines. They use their strength to wield the devastating long axe, excelling at dealing high amounts of damage and disabling opponents. The Raider can be either male or female in For Honor.
Berserker
<p>
The Berserker is an Assassin hero part of the Vikings faction. The prime incarnation of savagery, Berserkers take to the battlefield dual wielding short Viking hand axes, weapons which allow them to both harass enemies with flurries of fast attacks and finish them off with a swift throw. They wear minimal armor, covering their shoulders with leather and otherwise using animal fur to cover themselves. The Berserker can be either male or female in For Honor.
Tiandi
<p>
The Tiandi is a Vanguard hero belonging to the Wu Lin faction. They employ graceful dodge attacks using them, alongside palm strikes and kicks to destabilize opponents. In battle, they wield the Dao, a one-handed saber, while their armor is predominantly made of metal. The Tiandi can be either male or female in For Honor.
