Gears 5 is no longer Gears of War - now that the publisher has opted for a shorter and snappier title instead. Alongside the title change, many exciting announcements have also been made.

Gears 5 Steam
It's an exciting time to be gaming on PC: not only will Halo: MCC and Halo: Infinite both be coming to PC and Steam over the next few years, but Microsoft has extended the deal for all of their announced and unannounced games as well. This means that - yes - Gears 5 will launch on Steam as well!
Same goes for all games that Microsoft is publishing nowadays, but it's good to see official confirmations all the same. Hell, there's already a Gears 5 Steam page available, too!
Gears 5 Beta
According to latest information, Gears 5 will be getting a proper multiplayer beta-testing period before its launch. It is currently slated to launch on 17th of July, and will likely be making its way to Game Pass and pre-order buyers before anyone else.
Gears 5 Story and Characters
Gears 5's primary protagonist will, as it seems, be Kait - with Marcus Phoenix and his son, JD, basically there to escort her and keep her safe on her travels, and as she tries to figure out just how relevant her Locust bloodline is to the future of the world. According to the reveal trailer, it's not going to be just milk and honey, either.
According to the developers, Gears 5's storyline is going to be the 'biggest ever' which is quite a tall order indeed.

Surely what most of the fans will be interested in is when, exactly is Gears 5 supposed to finally come out! According to latest information, Gears 5 is supposed to be coming out across all platforms on 10th of September, 2019. Not that long a way to go now!
Gears 5 Gameplay Trailer
Sadly, there's no concrete gameplay shown of Gears 5 just yet. We do, however, have a very exciting cooperative mode trailer to showcase instead. Featuring the game's newfangled 'Escape' mode, it gives us an idea of how Gears 5's COOP multiplayer will work. Alongside Escape, we should also expect Horde mode to make a return, which is great news as well.
