The news was accompanied by a new gameplay trailer, that shows off some of the structures we’ll be able to construct while also delving into exploration, combat, and the devastating ruptures that play an important role in our attempts at survival.
Star Rupture Steam Early Access
Set in the year 2201, StarRupture puts us in the role of prisoners serving our sentence on a distant planet. There, we’re tasked with building a factory and gathering resources for uncaring global corporations.
Whether solo or in a party of up to four players, we’ll have to hunt down these valuable resources and construct structures while working to ensure that our base benefits from efficient logistics.
While exploring the planet, we’ll encounter a plethora of threats, ranging from bloodthirsty alien bugs – that we’ll have to fend off using our weapons –, to extreme temperatures, and, most importantly, the planet’s own star, Ruptura.
Periodically, the star covers the landscape in a wave of flames – which, if StarRupture’s new gameplay trailer is anything to go by, is a perfect moment to relax for a while inside the relative safety of your base’s protective bunkers.
The devastation ushers in cycles of rebirth, causing “life [to] spring forth anew with foliage shaking off the leftover ashes and reaching for the sky once more.” Each of these cycles brings with it the opportunity of uncovering new secrets and gathering rare resources.
StarRupture certainly sounds like a significant departure from developer Creepy Jar’s previous title, trading the more grounded yet still perilous Amazon jungle for a dose of sci-fi survival on a harsh planet.
If the above ticks enough boxes for you, be sure to follow the title on Steam and check out its gameplay trailer embedded below.
