Halo: The Master Chief Collection continues to receive content, even with the next major entry in the series launching later this year, and the Season 8 release date is currently on everyone’s mind.
Dubbed Mythic, Halo: The Master Chief Collection’s Season 8 introduces new and rather different armor sets that Halo 3 players can wear when its release date comes around. A blend of historical inspiration and a series trademark style, they’re accompanied by new nameplates, Firefight updates, and more.
Publisher Xbox Game Studios and developer 343 Industries previously announced that Season 8’s first test flight would begin at some point during the week of September 6.
Recent Halo MCC seasons have lasted between 10 and 11 weeks. By this logic, and considering that Season 7 kicked off on June 27, Season 8 should have gone live on September 8.
That, however, was not the case and we initially expected the new season to go live at the end of September. Our estimation was off by two weeks, Halo: The Master Chief Collection’s Season 8 release date officially arriving in mid-October.

It remains to be seen whether or not this season was an outlier in terms of length. In other news, Halo Infinite will not reward XP upon completing matches at launch.
