Though massive failures usually get way more headlines, comeback stories aren’t uncommon in the gaming space, and Imperator: Rome might be the next troubled game in line to return from an early grave.
Grand strategy fanatics, especially those who pay special attention to Paradox’s games and how they evolve over the years, might be in luck with this one, as the company appears to be opening up some support lines after last year’s open beta 2.0.4 patch (which never reached final release) and following a community-driven uptick of the Steam player numbers and interest surrounding the game.
Diehard Imperator: Rome fans have been calling for more support
The title has recently hit ‘Overwhelmingly Positive’ reviews on the platform, up from ‘Mixed’ overall, in a big effort to catch the developers’ attention.
If you take a look at the official Paradox forums, you will find the conversation around the aforementioned patch heating up once again, with technical director PDX_Gorion also giving the community renewed hopes after “seeing all the streams” and the noisy buzz.
According to the Paradox director, they’ll be trying to “gather resources” from internal studios to “make an effort into releasing this patch.”
Moreover, the team wants to “give back to the community,” teasing the 2.0.4 patch will be expanded with requests that have been coming from modders for a while.
This doesn’t mean there’s a dedicated team working on the game again, but following the recent Steam sale and the subsequent renewed interest, a happy ending to the official support for the game is on the cards, which may be enough for the most loyal players.
You can find Imperator: Rome on Steam.
