Insurgency: Sandstorm has been delayed from the 18th September until 12th December, New World Interactive and Focus Home Interactive announced today.
Over the last few months, players have been able to take part in a pre-order beta, which will now run until the game's release date in December.
This feedback has proved valuable, and despite two hotfixes and a significant patch last Thursday, the developers have quickly realised that significant improvements need to be made to bring Sandstorm up to a level where it can be considered a true successor to Insurgency.
"The additional time allows us to target a lower minimum system requirement, address more bugs, work on overall polish, gather additional feedback from the community to refine gameplay, and ensure that highly requested community features which may otherwise have had to be added post launch (such as community servers and custom games) are ready for day 1." said the developer in a statement today.
New World Interactive also outlined some of the goals that it aims to achieve with the delay, including upgrading to Unreal Engine 4.20, expanded in-game server options, better character models, additional cosmetic item variations, improved level visuals and other optimising.
We already know that post-launch DLC will be free, which is good, although players will be expected to pay for cosmetic items.
Insurgency: Sandstorm will be launching on the 12th December, 2018, but you can always check out Chris' recent hands-on preview while you wait. That's if you didn't already pre-order? If you did, then you can play the beta right now.
