Kingmakers is a medieval-themed sandbox game that blends action and strategy, and it’s currently set to release for the PC in 2024. However, is there any information on a possible release date for the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X/S?
Kingmakers takes its inspiration from titles like Deep Rock Galactic, Kingdom Come: Deliverance, Chivalry, and the Stronghold series. Upon its official announcement, it was stated to be in development only for PC. However, its developer, Ian Fisch, has hinted at potential console ports through discussions on X, previously known as Twitter.
Will Kingmakers release on consoles like PS5 and Xbox Series X/S?
Fisch, serving as the Lead Software Developer and Executive Producer for Kingmakers, mentioned that the team possesses development kits, indicating that porting to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X should not pose any issues.
“Well we have the dev kits and they will :) It’s all C++ and HLSL, with tight controls on memory usage, so Series S/X and PS5 won’t be a problem.” Fisch said on X.
“I’ve been told I’m not allowed to say certain, but I can say L2 = ADS, L1 = shield :)” he concluded.
Fisch commented on crossplay too, saying that if console versions get put into development, the plan will be to ensure crossplay is supported.
“Well it’s not my call, but we want to. The goal is complete online crossplay” said Fisch.
A new gameplay trailer is being released on May 21st, so we may learn more about the console versions then. We’ll be keeping an eye out for it.
You can follow Kingmakers on Steam. We will update this piece once console versions have been officially announced.
