Meeple Station is undergoing active development thanks to ModDB and IndieDB, whose publishing company Modularity has taken the developer VoxGames under their wing. A particular focus on modding is, then, quite a sensible development indeed.
Meeple Station is one of the very first projects headed by Modularity, the central philosophy of which says that mods bring out the best in games. This means that Modularity aligns itself very closely with developers who recognise the value of modding as well.
Since VoxGames intend to create a lovely space station simulator that just about anybody will have the chance to expand upon and upgrade, ModDB's mod.io platform is going to be a very handy supplement to the game, allowing for fast sharing and implementation of all mods featured as part of its service.
