Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 players are reporting an issue that gets them stuck on loading screen and are unable to take to the digital skies.
As it freshly released after a lengthy hiatus for the series, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020’s stuck on loading screen issue is an unfortunate source of frustration for many players who were hoping to jump in and try their hand at flying as soon as the game became available in their region.
While it’s difficult to pinpoint what exactly causes the Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020’s stuck on loading screen issue, the community has already identified several potential fixes that can get you past it.
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 Stuck on Loading Screen
The easiest fix for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020’s stuck on loading screen issue seems to be simply shutting the game down and restarting it. This has worked for quite a few players.
If that doesn’t work and you happen to have a controller plugged in, consider unplugging it. That’s how we got past the stuck on loading screen issue and got to play Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020.
A portion of the player base is only able to get past the issue by launching the game from the Xbox app and not the Microsoft Store.
In addition, having Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 installed on a different drive than the Microsoft Store can, apparently, also result in the stuck on loading screen issue appearing. The solution, in this case, is to simply reinstall the game on the same drive as the MS Store.
It’s also worth trying to run the game as admin when attempting the above solution. If you’re an Nvidia user, do keep in mind that brand new drivers built with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 in mind are now available to download.
Here’s a short recap of all potential fixes for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020’s stuck on loading screen issue:
- Quit and restart the game
- Unplug your controller
- Start the game from the Xbox app instead of Microsoft Store
- Make sure MS Flight Sim 2020 is installed on the same drive as Microsoft Store
- If your Windows Profile's name has special characters like Å or ò, create a profile without special characters, then run Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 using it
- Run the game as admin before and after attempting the above potential fixes
- Download Nvidia's latest driver if you're using the manufacturer's GPUs
