The elite club of MMORPGs that have been going for more than 20 years is exclusive indeed.
It includes EVE Online and RuneScape, but not World of Warcraft, which didn’t go live till November 2004.
MU Online is a founding member of the 20-year club. Developed by Webzen, this hit medieval fantasy MMORPG is one of the most revered multiplayer games of all time, generating mobile versions, spinoffs, and an uncountable number of gameplay hours.
How does MU Online stay on top? Simple. By pumping a steady flow of fresh new content into the game.
The latest injection is one of the most significant yet. Grow Lancer—who became the game’s third female class in the global version in 2015 —has just been given a couple of radical new skills and a huge number of shields as part of MU Season 19-1 Part 1 update.
First up, there’s Oversting. This skill allows the melee-centric Grow Lancer to summon a clone of herself for every enemy on the screen and stab each one. Then there’s Wild Breche, which lets you swing Grow Lancer’s lance around, adding AoE damage to her existing skill set.
Those DEF-boosting Lancer Shields, meanwhile, include Brilliant, Manticore, Silver Heart, Blue Eye, Soul, Holyangel, Dark Angel, and Bloodangel.
It goes without saying that fans of MU Online—and particularly fans of Grow Lancer—are going to get a kick out of this major new update, but it should appeal just as much to lapsed players and newcomers.
In fact, Webzen has come up with a plan to expedite these players’ progress so that they can see the changes faster.
A brand-new Speed Server will enable you to earn 100 Ruud every time you level up between LV401 and LV800, meaning there’s a possible 40,000 Ruud to claim if you make it all the way.
Plus, there will be even more rewards waiting for you when you return to an original server, which you’ll be able to do between August 6th and August 27th using a free Server Transfer Ticket.
These include the +11 Bloodangel Armor Set, Talisman of Ascension, and some even juicer prices for those players who manage to reach LV800.
The MU Online 19-1 Update event begins on July 23rd and runs all the way through until the end of August. From August 2nd to August 4th, meanwhile, you can challenge yourself and earn extra rewards in the Playtime Attack event.
You can register for an MU Online account if you haven’t already by heading here and adding your details. And the event page is right here.
