New World throws a lot of concepts your way early on and, as you get to grips with how its systems work, you can have trouble discovering how to Change Skin and equip cosmetic items you might have unlocked from the Deluxe Edition, pre-ordering, the in-game store, or </b>Twitch</b>.
New World’s Change Skin option doesn’t override any of your current gear’s stats but does give it a shinier and often themed look that you likely won’t find elsewhere. Whether the cosmetic items you’re trying to equip come from the Deluxe Edition, pre-ordering, the in-game store, or Twitch, they all seem to go to the same pool and we’ll detail the rather simple process of accessing it below.
To equip cosmetic items in New World, you need to bring up your inventory, assigned by default to the Tab key. Click on the item whose look you want to alter and you’ll see a set of options. Click the Change Skin option and a new window will open, showing multiple gear options.
Not all these cosmetic items will be unlocked immediately. Some need to be purchased, others need to be earned and claimed, like in the case of Twitch Drops. Those you can equip will not have a lock or a cart icon in the lower right corner.
Select the item you want to equip in that slot, then left-click the Confirm button and you’re good to go. New World’s Change Skin option doesn’t force you to actually equip matching items, either. If you feel like mixing cosmetic items belonging to different sets, you can freely do so.
