Overwatch runs several events throughout the year, its Anniversary 2021 event being slated to celebrate the hero shooter’s fifth active year. Usually, players can expect a new batch of goodies with each event. This makes knowing its start and end dates pretty important, especially if you’re planning on saving some in-game currency ahead of time.
Looking at the previous years’ schedule, the Overwatch Anniversary 2021 is a couple of months away. It tends to start on the Tuesday closest to the game’s original release date of May 24.
By that logic, the Overwatch Anniversary 2021 event’s should occur on May 18 this year. Its end date would then be slated for three weeks later, on June 8. Blizzard could also break tradition and move things one week later, as Tuesday, May 25, is closer to the game’s original release date.
Past anniversary events have introduced new skins to Overwatch alongside a special type of loot boxes only available for their duration. The special game modes of the other events happening throughout the year also tend to make a comeback. We expect Anniversary 2021 to follow along the same lines.
What we might not see is the addition of new features, since Blizzard is also working on Overwatch 2. We’ll likely have to wait for a few months before hearing anything about the Overwatch Anniversary 2021 event’s start and end dates, but BlizzConline is set to bring more news about Blizzard’s franchises in the second half of February.
