Red Dead Redemption 2 is out now, and while a fair number of players are struggling to play it many others are enjoying one of the best games of the current generation. But if you’ve played it on console already, you may want to look at our Red Dead Redemption 2 Skip Intro guide below.
If you’ve played RDR2 on PS4 or Xbox One, you’ll know that the first chapter of the game is set in the icy Grizzly Mountains, and is really an extended tutorial that lasts several hours - with little freedom to explore. Below we’ll show you how to skip Chapter 1 in Red Dead Redemption 2 PC to get straight to the next part with a Red Dead Redemption 2 Chapter 2 save file.
Red Dead Redemption 2 Skip Intro and Get to Chapter 2
The opening of Red Dead Redemption 2 is good for story, character development, and to introduce players to the game world - but the second time round? You just want to skip chapter 1, because it takes ages and it’s very linear and cutscene-focused. Chapter 2 sees the gang move to the Horseshoe Overlook just outside of Valentine, and most importantly - you immediately get access to the entire game world.
So, it’s a point you want to get to fast - especially if you’ve played RDR2 before. While there isn’t a cheat to skip Chapter 1, resourceful players have begun creating save files right at the beginning of Chapter 2 for you to download and play. While there may be some decisions you disagreed with, Chapter 1 is very linear, so it won’t make much difference at this point.
Head here to download the ‘intro completed’ save file. After that, simply copy the first SRDR file to the following directory:
C:\Users<name>\Documents\Rockstar Games\Red Dead Redemption 2\Profiles
Then load up the game, head to the Red Dead Redemption 2 load page on the main menu, and load up the Chapter 2. Congratulations, you’ve skipped the tedium of Chapter 1!
