The Resident Evil 2 Remake is out now, and it’s utterly fantastic - and scary. By far the most terrifying enemy in the game is the Resident Evil 2 Remake Tyrant otherwise known as “Mr X”.
He’ll stalk you constantly, but can you actually defeat him? Can the Resident Evil 2 Remake Mr X be killed? How do you defeat the Resident Evil 2 Remake Tyrant? And what do you do about him? We’ve got the answers.
How to beat the Resident Evil 2 Remake Mr X
The Mr. X Tyrant is hinted at for a while in the game, but first makes his initial proper appearance after you’ve put out the fire on the crashed helicopter. He’ll then attack, relentlessly, and you’ve got two options: run or fight. If you run, you’ll quickly find that the Tyrant hounds you all over the station. There are a few safe rooms, but otherwise he’ll come for you and never stops coming. You’ll hear the pounding of his feet against the floorboards constantly, sometimes from the floor above you.
So, what about fighting? Is it possible to kill him? Unfortunately: no. You cannot permanently beat the Tyrant. It’s possible to shoot him in the head enough to stun him for a long time, at which point you need to run, and if you’re lucky he won’t bother you for a while. But he’ll be back. He’s a constant threat, particularly in the police station.
The only time you’ll get to permanently kill the Tyrant is right at the end of the campaign, when you finally get hold of a rocket launcher. Fire it at him, and you’ll finally beat the Tyrant. Hooray! Only took you the entire length of the game…
