One of the latest Resident Evil 4 Remake mods fulfills a long-standing fan request, having Ashley replace Leon as the survival horror game’s playable character.
RE4 Remake’s Playable Ashely mod gives the president’s daughter the chance to literally save herself from the Ganados and various other monstrosities that roam across the Spanish village she’s trapped in.

This version of Resident Evil 4 Remake’s Playable Ashley mod includes her own sound effects alongside an option for dedicated animations, although creator Peachy notes that “they can be buggy.”
That is also the reason why a version of the mod that retains Leon’s animations is included with the download.
Turning off hair strands is also recommended, as is keeping in mind that the mod is not compatible with others that replace Ashely, aside from simple ones that only change textures.
A handful of other bugs can be present, notably during calls, when sliding under the door in chapter 2 (which may require a leon animation mod or teleport plugin to get past), alongside less oomph behind kick sounds.
Nonetheless, if you want to give the game a go as someone other than Leon, Resident Evil Remake 4’s Playable Ashley mod remains one very viable option.
If you’d rather not have the president’s daughter in your game at all, you can replace her with Jill Valentine.
