CrossCode is a labour of love. Radical Fish Games have spent seven years in attempting to bring it to fruition, and the last three of those, CrossCode has been in Early Access; relying on the feedback of eager players to wrap the project up properly.
Unlike many other Early Access releases, however, CrossCode has just now been officially released! This retro action RPG has been inspired primarily by SNES games of yore when it comes to graphics, but it packs a fast-paced combat system that you wouldn't expect it to pack.
"It's been such an amazing ride," said Felix Klein, one of the developers. "The best thing is: the ride isn't over. Free post-launch content and other things are now on our list." While promising, the statement does not mean that CrossCode isn't positively brimming with content already.
Developers promise up to 80 hours of exploring a huge game world separated into 7 different areas, fighting more than 120 types of enemies culminating in 30+ boss fights. All of this, you'll master by using almost 100 different combat arts and even more passive abilities.
CrossCode is now available via Steam for the price of €16.99, but if you're unsure about the purchase, you can always give the game's demo a shot.
